Pastor Stephen Tompkins was raised in Deerville in Carleton County. During childhood and youth, he attended Brookville United Pentecostal Church, where the pastors were Rev. Conrad Brewer, Rev. Allison Levitt, Rev. Alastone Oliver, and Rev. Fred Wickett.
From 1982 to 1985, Pastor Tompkins attended United Pentecostal Bible Institute. Following Bible college, he had the opportunity to work alongside Rev. Fred Wickett in Chatham, NB, and Bro. Albert Galbraith in Centreville, NB.
In June 1987, Pastor Tompkins married Bible school sweetheart, Deborah Locke.
In the summer of 1988, Pastor Tompkins and Deborah began pastoring a small congregation, Four Falls Apostolic Church in Four Falls, NB, while continuing to work full-time at Day & Ross Ltd. During their time living in Four Falls, their two sons were born: Jordan in 1991 and Ryan in 1993.
After five and a half years of pastoring in Four Falls, Pastor Tompkins resigned from the church and took over leadership of the Ripples United Pentecostal Church in Ripples, NB, in 1994.
Pastor Tompkins and Deborah spent 12 wonderful years pastoring the congregation in Ripples, participating in several building projects for both the church and the parsonage. While living in Ripples, their family grew with the birth of their daughter, Andrea, in 1996.
During this time, Pastor Tompkins was active in the Atlantic District of the UPCI, serving as the Sunday School Secretary, teaching at Northeast Christian College, and serving from 2001 to 2009 on the District Board as a Presbyter, the Northeast Christian College Board, and as Chairman of the Finance Committee.
In 2006, he and his family moved to McAdam, NB, where he became the pastor of the Voice of Pentecost Church. In this role, Pastor Tompkins oversaw church renovations and the construction of a new parsonage. Pastor Tompkins continued serving the Atlantic District, fulfilling the role of District Secretary from 2009 to 2021.
The family has expanded over the years: Jordan married Shauna Dicks, and they have three children—William, Ellie, and Annabelle. They currently live in Newfoundland, where Jordan serves as the Assistant Pastor of the St. John's Church. Andrea married Winston Bradley. They attend the Shediac Church, where Andrea serves as Church Secretary.
In 2026, Pastor Tompkins celebrated 20 years as pastor of the Voice of Pentecost Church in McAdam, continuing to serve the church members and the local community.
